PHOTOS!

This is just going to be a photo post seeing as I haven't blogged for ages...

I know they're only flowers and they don't make very interesting subjects in photos but I find them easy to photograph

nutella for bella

Being bored on a saturday afternoon is not much fun, so I decided to update my blog.
I was quite dissapointed earlier this week when I went to the cupboard for my nearly daily piece of toast with chocolate spread or nutella on, and there, in all it's white and yellow glory sat a jar of MORRISONS VALUE CHOCOLATE SPREAD!!!!!

As you can guess, I was not pleased. You see, i'm a bit of a chocolate spread-oholic and discovering this saddened me... ALOT
Normally we don't get full on ACTUAL nutella in my house, but there is one that is soooo nice which has bits of nuts in it- YUM!!!!! Cadbury's chocolate spread is pretty good too. Well, anything is compared to MORRISONS VALUE! My plan to overcome this is to eat it as quickly as possible, which is not hard seeing as I normally have more spread than bread anyway, but when it doesn't taste as good it goes down slower don't you think?

Wheyyyy I'm loving all the new summer clothing that's come into the shops recently! Even if it is still slightly cold, it makes me look forward to summer! I purchased some floral sunglasses the other day from Primark- £1! right bargain- they make any outfit look a bit more seasonal!

The only bad bit about summer is the first day you wear shorts, before you have been on holiday... PALE ALERT! I'm not really one for a fake tan, I don't think it would suit me.. but as soon as there's a slight colour to your legs it's fiiine:) Last year I went on holiday at easter, so I was already tanned for the good weather in May when I got back.. this year I'm not going on holiday til July so I'll be missing out on the pre-tan.

Scallop hem shorts- Topshop
I went to a party last weekend and borrowed my friend's high waisted shorts- i decided afterwards that I am going to buy some for summer... I'm quite liking the coral coloured shorts, or maybe even go for some floral ones? They're so versatile cos in summer they can be worn by themselves with a top, and dressed up with heels etc. and in winter they can be worn with tights and brogue shoes or boots, so they are at the top of my list of things to buy right now!

DreamClouds

I haven't posted in a while, and the last one was really lame.. well i am still doing that project. I also still have the rest of that story to write.. for this week. It's been half term this week but it hasn't felt like much of a holiday. Kinda boring actually, with a few highlights.

I haven't been able to sleep very well recently, it's probably my messed up sleeping pattern or something but don't you think it's strange how people have ways they make themselves fall asleep? It sounds weird but if you think about it it's true. For example, I couldn't sleep the other day so I just thought of this corridor, with loads of doors that kept on going and going and then I fell asleep. Something else I do is think of a journey of walking into town or to someone's house, and by the time I get there I'm asleep. Everyone will think I'm a right wierdo now won't they? But it's just like the whole counting sheep thing, except I find counting sheep is boring.

Oooh I will post soon about my dress I have made I think, goodbye.

'Still Life with Orange' by Paul Gauguin

Take some photos like this..
And paint something like this..

I got given my art final exam yesterday, we have 5 weeks to prepare and I chose the starting point 'structures'. I was thinking of doing natural structures like of a pomegranate and take some really good close up photos on macro and print out big and do some etching, sketching, watercolour, ink, pastel and just as many studies of it as possible really to fill my blank sketchbook.

Then I realised we had to choose a particular artist... and i was completely stuck. I searched for still lifem but they were all the usual fruit bowls and apples and oranges. In the end I chose Gauguin, who's a master painter, but I really like his oranges. I wanted something a bit more contemporary and modern though so I'll keep my eyes open. Any ideas?

By the way none of that pomegranate stuff up there is mine, I found it on google search.

Thursday 3 February 2011

It was another late night in October, the dried up leaves were rustling through the dark alleyways, brushing past homeless bodies curled up in blankets as the summer was ending and the chill of winter was creeping upon them unawares. To all the millions of New York City dwellers it was just another blustery evening but for the four in the Phillies Diner, it was not. The diner, once a popular diner in an affluent part of the city, now stood alone with the dust on the plastic tabletops reflecting the bright glaring lights into the gloom of the city. Tonight, the diner was almost empty. Little did the lonely man sitting in the shadowy corner know what the well dressed couple at the bar had done earlier that evening. He wasn’t paying attention. He had had a tough day at work. He had almost been fired, and his recent divorce from his wife still rankled. He ordered a Jack Daniels from the balding barman and looked at his old, battered watch. It was almost midnight but he, Erik Bridge had nowhere else to go.
Looking over to the bar, he noticed the well dressed couple. The young man had his grey hat rather far down his forehead, covering his eyes. His jaw was set in a straight line. He was wearing a crisp navy suit that looked freshly ironed, and an expensive looking gold watch. On closer inspection however, he had a single bead of sweat trickling down his long hooked nose. He looked serious, as though he was carrying the world’s weight on his shoulders. The woman who he supposed was his girlfriend was elegantly dressed in a ruby red silk dress with a row of shimmering pearls perched delicately around her neck. She had fiery red hair with a heavily made up face but her full red lips were set into an unhappy pout.

These are the first two paragraphs of my ORIGINAL WRITING for English, my teacher hated it. I got my inspiration from a painting by Edward Hopper called 'Nighthawks', which is above
